Mindfulness –
The Gift That Keeps on Giving

mindful parenting

When we enter this world
we are at the mercy of our parental caregivers.

Children are like sponges.

What is provided is what they will absorb.

We are all a product of our environment. If you think back to when you were young, we were introduced to checks and balances. Parameters were set with guidelines to follow. If you did not heed warning, adhere to the rules and crossed the boundary lines then there was a consequence. A lesson to learn.

Parenting of the Past

Back in my day you received a spanking and were sent to your room to reflect on your behavior. Since the stone age we have progressed to the method of “time out.” Go stand in a corner and think about what you have done.

Parenting of the Future

Parents of the new age have progressed and taken this a step further by instilling and teaching the practice of mindful meditation to their children as a long-term approach to provide their offspring with the invaluable tools of instruction, discipline and set resiliency to be rational, productive, successful and grounded members of society.
Mindfulness is even being increasing used as a discipline tool in schools.

Why is Mindfulness becoming a preferred method for instructing youth?

I think it runs parallel to the old saying “Don’t hand someone a fish. If you really want to help, teach them how to fish.” It is a skill that will benefit them throughout their entire lifetime and hopefully they will pass it on to their offspring. A necessary tool for generational survival.

If you believe in that statement as a proven fact, it should not be difficult to accept that mindful meditation can direct your thoughts, behaviors and actions through contemplative reflection. When mindfulness is applied and utilized as a way of life you have a foundation for stability. You must be mentally, physically and spiritually grounded to succeed.

Meditation provides those moments when we clear the cobwebs.
We take that time to release the chaos.

We quiet the mind by following our breath. Thoughts will enter. We accept them. Not as intrusion but as a point to reflect on. If the same thought continues to pop in repetitively, we realize this is a point of contention that should be contemplated and addressed. Let it go for now. We are decompressing and attempting to eliminate clutter and counterproductive chatter. This is when it is most helpful to concentrate on inhaling and exhaling deeply. Your breath can take you where you need to be. Go deeper into that calm and peaceful place inside. Draw strength from knowing you are safe and secure in the moment. Release any overwhelming feelings. Shed your stress and allow the universe to absorb that which is not serving you well.

Cleanse your soul from worry. Accept that you are cradled by loving energy. The clarity that you seek is in the clearing. When you free yourself from all obstructions you will experience the peaceful place you need to retreat to that is necessary in order to be receptive to guidance and receive insight that instructs your path.

Mindful meditation is a form of checks and balances.
In the midst of an increasingly chaotic society,
it can serve as a lifelong coping mechanism for children.

The process and techniques enable you to successfully navigate your course through the choppy, turbulent waters called life. Mindfulness creates a level moral compass necessary for survival and personal growth, and when taught, provides the same for generations to come.

Why do the enlightened prefer to instill and teach this method?

Clearly because it is a gift that keeps on giving.
