Calendula officinalis, or pot Marigold, has been used in wound healing since medieval times.
The European Medicines Agency (EMA) has approved its lipophilic and aqueous alcoholic extracts as traditional medicinal products for the treatment of minor inflammation of the skin and as an aid in the healing of minor wounds.
A 2018 study published in the Journal of Advanced Pharmaceutical Technology & Research showed that short-term use of a Calendula officinalis cream healed all symptoms of bacterial vaginosis with no side effects in reproductive-age women.
